No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
The No Child Left Behind Act requires all states to utilize state
assessments to determine if a school has made Adequate Yearly Progress
(AYP) in the proficiency of all students. Adequate Yearly Progress
is one of four measures that will be used to determine how well
schools are performing in Florida. The others are: school grades,
individual student progress towards annual learning targets to reach
proficiency, and a return on investment measure that links dollars
spent to student achievement. All schools will be rated on each
of these measures. Schools meeting all standards will be designated
as highly effective and efficient.
